Important Notice: A student’s engineering degree may be permanently revoked if they attempt to bribe any person to illegally pass the examinations conducted by Anna University. A separate team will be closely monitoring such illegal activities. For other rules and punishments, read below.
1. What are the rules that need to be followed inside the exam hall to avoid committing malpractice?
– A candidate is permitted to use geometric tools, non-programmable calculators, and approved tables and data books during theory and practical examinations. No other materials or gadgets (including cell phones) should be brought inside the examination hall.
– A candidate should neither possess/refer to any forbidden material in any form nor seek/obtain assistance from any person/source towards answering questions during the examinations.
– He/she should not assist other candidates in any form in answering questions during the examinations.
– The candidate should not reveal his/her identity in any form in the answer scripts.
– The candidate should not attempt to canvass, directly or indirectly, to be awarded more than deserving marks in the examinations.
– The candidate should maintain discipline and decorum during the examinations.
Violation of the above rules in any form during the examinations will attract punishments ranging from fines to permanent debarment from continuing studies.
2. What are the different types of Malpractice & their Punishments?
A) Punishment: Fine of Rs. 1000/- per subject
Nature:
– Appeal by the student in the answer script to show mercy by awarding more than deserving marks.
– Writing the student’s name in the answer script.
– Writing the student’s registration number/college name in places other than specified in the answer script.
– Any special markings in the answer script by the student.
– The student communicating with neighboring candidates orally or non-verbally; suspicious movements of his/her body.
– Irrelevant writing in the answer script.
– Possessing the question paper of another candidate or passing one’s question paper to another student, without any additional writing.
B) Punishment: Invalidating the examination of the specific subject written by the student
Nature:
– The candidate facilitating other students to copy from his/her answer script.
C) Punishment: Invalidating the examinations of the concerned subject, all theory and practical subjects of the current semester, and all arrears subjects registered by the student. The student will also be disqualified from revaluation, retotalling, or photocopying of answer scripts for arrears subjects. If the student has registered only for arrears subjects, all the examinations of those subjects will be invalidated.
Nature:
– The student possessing any incriminating material(s) (whether used or not), such as written or printed materials, bits of paper with information, writings on scales, calculators, handkerchiefs, clothing, parts of the body, hall tickets, etc.
– The student possessing cell phones, programmable calculators, or any other electronic storage device(s) (whether used or not).
– The student possessing the question paper of another candidate with additional writing on it.
– Passing one’s question paper to another student with additional writing on it.
– Passing incriminating materials into the examination hall in any medium (hard/soft) to other students.
– Copying from a neighboring student.
– Vulgar or offensive writings in the answer script.
– Possessing another student’s answer script.
– Passing one’s answer script to another student.
– Making an appeal in the answer script, coupled with a promise of any form of consideration.
D) Punishment: Invalidating the examinations of all theory and practical subjects of the current semester and all arrears subjects registered by the student.
Nature:
– Vulgar or offensive writings in the answer script.
– Possessing the answer script of another student.
– Passing one’s answer script to another student.
– Making an appeal in the answer script coupled with a promise of any form of consideration.
